Enlisted when he was 17 years old, served 2.5 years. He was a tail Gunner on a B-29 Superfortress. Flew 21 missions over the Japanese Empire. Crash landed two times on Iwo Jima. After serving he came home married his beautiful wife, whom he met while attending UConn. He and his wife of 73 years reside in Stafford. 6 children, 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren. I, Heidi Jo Martin, nominate him, I am his caregiver and I cannot imagine a kinder tougher more deserving Veteran than this man.
